Here is the way I made aloo paratha today..And I know all of you know very well to make this one,yet for my future reference and those who don't know before…, I am posting this one!
For me Aloo paratha means it has to be thin and soft, with the stuffing blended well with the dough. This
is the way I learnt from my friend (Sangeeta) and I always make this way. For all stuffed parathas, the key
is to have the dough and stuffing in same consistency. If the dough is very tight and tough, the stuffing
will ooze out. And even if the stuffing is gooey or watery, the paratha will become sticky and hard to roll.
Knead dough to a non-sticky consistency similar to how we prepare for chapattis and keep for some
Smear with butter or ghee both sides if desired. Serve with pickle or Dahi. Want something different?
Tip : Roll and cook side by side the parathas. Do not roll and keep as it may become sticky or soggy.

This is very simple to make and it can be a good side dish for aloo, methi parathas! Also I would
Aloo Paratha recipe
Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook time: 5 mins per paratha | Makes: 6
Ingredients
| Wheat flour | 1 cup |
| Oil (optional) | 1 tsp- 1 tblsp |
| Salt & warm water/milk | As needed |
Knead dough to a non-sticky consistency similar to how we prepare for chapattis and keep for some
15 - 30 minutes.
For stuffing
| Boiled and mashed potatoes | 3 large |
| Coriander leaves | 2-3 tblsp |
| Green chilies | 4-5 nos. |
| Ajwain/Omam | 1/2 tsp |
| Salt | as needed |
Method
- Make equal sized balls out of the dough and the stuffing.
- Roll the dough ball to a thick, palm sized circle.
- Keep the stuffing in the middle and cover it from all sides towards the middle and press to a patty.
- Dust the platform with flour and roll as thin as possible so that the dough covers the stuffing as a thin layer. refer the video for help.
- Heat tawa and cook the parathas both sides in medium low flame, add oil as needed, till golden brown spots appear. If needed, press the parathas gently with the spatula to ensure even cooking.
Smear with butter or ghee both sides if desired. Serve with pickle or Dahi. Want something different?
Try the below recipe as side dish.

Video: How to roll stuffed paratha
Tip : Roll and cook side by side the parathas. Do not roll and keep as it may become sticky or soggy.
This is very simple to make and it can be a good side dish for aloo, methi parathas! Also I would
recommend this chutney because, the garlic in this chutney nullifies/neutralizes the gastric properties
of aloo,so good for health chutney
. This is a treat for garlic flavour loving people and perfect for all
sort of parathas/stuffed and plain. Try this, you will be amazed!

Aloo Paratha Side dish Tomato garlic recipe
Ingredients
| Tomato | 2 big (ripe) |
| Garlic | 10 – 12 flakes |
| Salt | as needed |
| Sesame oil | 1/8 Cup + 2 tblsp |
Method
- Chop the tomatoes roughly, peel and Crush the garlic little.Grind the tomatoes in a mixer to a
- smooth paste without adding water.and then add this to the ground tomato and again run 2-3
- times (use Juice/inch option),taking care to not to grind it smooth..Garlic should be visible as
- little little bits.
- Heat the gingelly oil(nallennai),preferably in a flat broad pan...really really hot,till it fumes.Add
- the ground mixture and stir well. Let it boil only for a minute and by this time the colour would
- have changed and the oil should have separated.
- Put off the stove and transfer to the serving bowl!
Notes
- Don't substitute sesame oil with any other oil..
- Don’t reduce the oil amount,be generous, sesame oil is only good for your health.
- It also suppress the garlic flavour’s raw smell and makes it smell balanced .
- Don’t let boil more than a minute. You can find the correct time,as when the chutney’s colour changes as it boils.
I also tried a Korma form Lavanyaa's cookery corner..Even though I dint get her korma colour...I think
I will get it right next time! It was very nice...! Here's a picture of that one to share with you all!

Visual treat of Indian handicrafts, calligraphy in Cairo
Cairo, April 18 (IANS) Indian handicraft and calligraphy are being showcased in the Egyptian capital through a week-long exhibition, aimed at highlighting India's great written heritage.
This exhibition of visual arts named "Akshara" is being organised by the Embassy of India in collaboration with Teamwork productions at the Hanager Arts Centre here from April 15-21, an official release said.
Akshara - Crafting Indian Scripts, is an exhibition of over 100 museum-quality exhibits created by Dastkari Haat Samiti, a non-profit national association of crafts people. The exhibition showcases India's great written heritage by focusing on calligraphy through craft forms in multi-faceted ways.
Handcrafted applications of scripts on metal, carved and inlaid wood, clay, stone, pottery and stone ware, embroidered and woven textiles, and different areas of traditional art including block printing, and a variety of lesser known forms of folk art have been displayed.
Rajeev Kumar, an Indian calligrapher, has a display of Indian calligraphy in many scripts and techniques.
An art film named "Aksharakaram" combining classical movements in dance with calligraphy with well-known dancers Navtej Johar and Justin McCarthy and calligrapher Rajeev Kumar will be part of the exhibition.
The main person behind the whole event is former Samata Party president, Jaya Jaitly, who founded Dastkari Haat Samiti, which enables traditional workers in gaining confidence in the marketplace through many innovative strategies.
She has an intimate knowledge of the craft traditions of the country, having worked in the field for over 40 years.
Speaking after the inauguration of the exhibition, Ambassador of India Navdeep Suri said, "The focus of the India by the Nile festival is on forging meaningful and sustainable collaborations between India and Egypt in the field of arts and crafts.
"The canvas produced jointly by an Indian and Egyptian calligrapher is an example of this.
He said Jaitly would also be sharing her extensive experience with Heba Handoussa and the Egypt Network for Integral Development (ENID) and with different groups of Egyptian artisans.
"I am sure that this will create a strong platform for sharing of skills and experiences in the development of handicrafts, which are such an important source of livelihood for millions of Indians."
The festival is presented by TCI Sanmar chemicals SAE, the largest Indian investor in Egypt. The main sponsors of the event are the Kirloskars, the Aditya Birla Group and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

HTC Desire P and Q
HTC’s new budget Desire phones have finally been outed. Both entry level models, the Desire P and Desire Q look set to do battle with a string of rival budget handsets in emerging markets over the next few months.
The Desire P is the more impressive effort, packing a 4.3-inch screen, along with a decent 8-megapixel camera and Beats Audio for impressive tune access on the move. There’s a dual-core 1GHz processor under the hood, as well as ample SD card support for stashing movies and music.
By contrast, the Desire Q rocks a smaller 4-inch panel, but still comes with Beats tech and SD expansion. It’s expected to undercut the Desire P when it hits shelves in China.
HTC has been riding a critical wave in recent weeks thanks to the success of its new flagship phone, the HTC One. The company has also changed its marketing approach, pledging to spend more in an attempt to gain ground on rivals such as Samsung and Apple, which have been surging ahead in recent months.

A Supervirus That Can Kill Everyone
Nothing is more terrifying than a supervirus with the potential to wipe out billions of people, but fortunately that’s the kind of stuff left to James Bond villains and shadowy corporations in movies. Or at least it was, until Ron Fouchier, a Dutch virologist, announced that he had created that exact virus in 2011.
The virus is a genetically altered version of the H5N1 virus, otherwise known as the avian virus, which is deadly among birds but has only accounted for around 500 human infections since 2002 (for comparison, the regular flu kills about 3,000 people per year).
With a few minor tweaks to the virus, Fouchier and his team made it simultaneously more deadly and much, much more contagious, to the point where it killed approximately 50% of the ferrets used for testing. Ferrets are commonly used to test viruses because their bodies behave much like humans.
In the tests, the virus was first transmitted between the ferrets manually, but after 10 generations it became airborne, and easily reached the entire population. And remember, this is a working model for how it would affect humans. Just imagine if that was released to bioterrorists. Oh wait, people already have – This has become one of the biggest controversies in the virology community, since Fouchier wanted to publish his entire method to the public.
